ANATOMICAL, PALYNOLOGICAL AND MICROMOPHOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS ON ENDEMIC THYMUS BRACHYCHILUS JALAS (LAMIACEAE)

Objective: In this study, it was aimed to investigate the anatomical and palynological features of endemic Thymus brachychilus Jalas. Material Method: The plant material fixed in 70% alcohol for investigation. Cross sections stem, leaves, leaf surface were stained with sartur solution, aspects examined. trichome architectures, mesophyll cells, stomatal index, glandular non-glandular trichomes leaves stem have been investigated compared other species findings. addition, measurements structures made. Pollen, flower parts, epidermis structure examined SEM. Result Discussion: This is first anatomical, micromorphological study on brachychilus. consists a single row elongated shaped cells covered thin cuticle. There are nonglandular upper lower epidermis. Two different types found. Stomata diacytic, amphistomatic. layer dorsiventral. cross-section square. outermost single-row, elongated, square or rectangular pollen symmetry isopolar, shape suboblate. It has hexacolpate bireticulate properties.
